Adam joined his mother, Ayesha, in a mission to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy, but failed. During Counter-Earth's destruction, Ayesha was killed and Adam was captured by Gamora. Later, Adam broke free and tried to kill Peter Quill, but was defeated. As the High Evolutionary's ship exploded, Adam was rescued by Groot, with Drax explaining that they saved him because everyone deserves a second chance. Adam repaid their kindness by saving Quill from freezing to death in space and even awkwardly joined the Guardians' group hug.
Adam subsequently joined the new Guardians of the Galaxy under Rocket's leadership.
