"The place where I worked at, they were experimenting with electricity created by living organisms and then... I fell into a vat of electric eels."

The Bioelectric Eels are genetically-modified electric eels created by Oscorp.

History[]

The Amazing Spider-Man 2[]

On his birthday, Max Dillon was sent by Alistair Smythe to fix an electrical problem in the lab holding the eels. After accidentally electrocuting himself with the power cables, Max fell into one of the vats of eels, who viciously attacked him with their electricity, eventually transforming Max into Electro. The tank ultimately shattered, releasing Max and killing all of the eels within.

Spider-Man: No Way Home[]

After being transported into an alternate universe from shortly before his death, a variant of Max explained to Flint Marko how his accident with the eels had transformed him into Electro. Flint told Max that he'd similarly become the Sandman by falling into a supercollider and Max commented that "damn. You gotta be careful where you fall."

While preparing for the final battle with the universe-displaced villains at the Statue of Liberty, Peter-Three, the Peter Parker from Max's universe, told Peter-Two, the Peter Parker from Flint's universe, that Max was the sweetest guy ever before he fell into the vat of electric eels. Peter-Two noted that "that'll do it" based on his own experiences with the creation of supervillains.

After being drained of his powers by Otto Octavius, who was given a new inhibitor chip by Peter-One earlier, via an Electricity Siphon created by Peter-One, Max confirmed to Peter-Three that his powers were gone and that he was back to being normal again. After Peter-Three convinced him to give up on being a supervillain, Max complained "goddamn eels" while accepting Peter-Three's help up.
