Black Cat is an upcoming live-action superhero film based on the character of the same name. Originally a film that would've featured both Black Cat and Silver Sable together titled Silver & Black, the film was cancelled in favor of two separate films focusing on the two individually. It is believed to be set in the same continuity as Venom in a shared universe, but currently unknown if Spider-Man will be involved in any capacity.

On August 4, 2014, according to Deadline, Sony is eyeing a 2017 release for a potential untitled Female centered spin-off movie with Lisa Joy Nolan writing.[1] On March 22, 2017, Sony Pictures has enlisted Chris Yost to pen the script for their second upcoming Spider-Man spin-off film, which will center around popular supporting players Black Cat and Silver Sable.[2] In June 2017, Amy Pascal this film, along with Venom will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Homecoming.[3][4]

Trivia

  • Gina Prince-Bythewood will be the first African-American woman to direct a studio-produced superhero film.
  • Much like Venom, this film will supposedly take place outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
