When people started being erased after Thanos used the completed Infinity Gauntlet, Nick Fury declared it a code red to Maria Hill who then disintegrated before his eyes. Panicked, Fury grabbed the Captain Marvel pager in an attempt to send a distress signal, before he too turned to dust. The pager fell to the ground and began to light up, Captain Marvel's symbol appeared on the screen indicating the message had been sent.
