"When I get out of here, and I will... there's gonna be carnage."
Cletus Kasady[src]

Carnage was a red alien symbiote that was accidentally created by Venom. Cletus Kasady was Carnage's host.

Biography[]

Venom: Let There Be Carnage[]

Carnage was created, following Eddie Brock's last visit to Cletus Kasady, before the latter was to be executed. Venom grabbed Cletus following him insulting Eddie and Kasady was able to grab hold of Brock's hand and bite his finger, causing some of the symbiote Brock has to enter Kasady.

At Cletus' execution, as he was given lethal injection, the symbiote that Cletus ingested had emerged, not only stopping his execution, but freeing him in the process. He then chased the prison warden, while meeting resistance from prison guards along the way. However, Carnage easily dispatched them, as well as the warden before escaping. Following the escape, Kasady had found himself some new clothes, as well as a vintage 1966 Mustang, which he stole and through the rear-view mirror, could see Carnage, striking a deal with him.

Carnage would aid in helping him find someone if Carnage aided him in finding Venom. They stopped by a gas station, where Kasady murdered the store clerk and used Carnage to hack into his computer, locating Frances Barrison, who was located in Ravencroft Institute. Once there, he easily made his way to her cell, where Kasady had Carnage smash open the glass she was encased in and got both of them out of the institute, where they encountered heavy resistance from the guards outside. Carnage was able to take out several vehicles, but Frances, using her sonic scream, not only took down several more, but also hurt Carnage, as the symbiote was vulnerable to high-frequency sound. Despite this, the two escaped the institute, heading off to their childhood home, St. Estes Home For Unwanted Children and burn it down.

Following this, Kasady and Carnage capture Patrick Mulligan, the cop who injured Frances' eye when she was being transported to Ravencroft in 1996, while Frances captured Eddie's ex-fiancé Anne Weying and ordering her new fiancé Dan Lewis to have Eddie meet them at a cathedral, where Cletus and Frances plan on tying the knot. When Eddie arrives with Venom, Carnage reveals himself to his father and vows his death.

Although Venom cowers, due to Carnage being a more powerful symbiote, he eventually pops back out and goes to engage Carnage, however, Frances using her sonic scream, hurts both symbiotes and Carnage smacks her down at the alter for her to stop before going to battle Venom. Once Carnage nails Venom to the wall, he grabs Frances, telling her to kill Mulligan, but to keep her mouth shut, however before both end up in an argument, both notice Mulligan escaping and Frances goes to pursue him while Carnage re-engages Venom.

During the fight, Carnage eats the head off the priest who was officiating the wedding before continuing his fight against Venom. Venom is able to knock Carnage off him and under a scaffolding where Dan uses a can of gasoline and a blowtorch to burn Carnage, causing the symbiote to turn his attention towards him.

Carnage captures Dan and nearly kills him too, only for Venom to wrap a tentacle around Carnage's throat, but the bell in the cathedral begins to ring, causing both symbiotes agony, causing both to retreat into their hosts, leaving them to fight by themselves for a brief moment before coming back out to fight each other until they are affected by the bell again. Carnage is able to grab hold of the bell's clapper, breaking it off and going to use it against Venom, however the latter grabs it and begins choking Carnage with it.

Carnage is able to get the upper hand on Venom, beating him down and grabbing a tied up Anne, vowing that Eddie would watch her die and ascending the cathedral. They meet Frances at the top, where she tells Cletus to stop Carnage as killing Anne was too much. Carnage goes to kill Frances, only for Cletus to begin fighting him. Carnage nearly ate Anne, had it not been for the intervention of Venom, impaling his head with a metal pipe, causing Carnage to knock Venom off him, as well as throwing Anne towards the cathedral, but Venom caught her before she impacted.

Carnage began cutting and impaling Venom, gaining the upper hand on him, but Venom is able to instigate Frances into using her powers on both him and Carnage, causing the symbiotes to shed their hosts and begin falling down from the cathedral's tower. While Venom was able to re-bond with Eddie to save him from injury, Carnage wasn't so lucky and Kasady fell, but didn't die from his injuries. Carnage makes an attempt to re-bond to Kasady, but Venom grabs the symbiote and devours him, stating "He didn't taste that good".

Character traits[]

Much like Venom, Carnage was cannibalistic, but also extremely vicious, caring very little for those around him, even those he's working with, like Cletus and Frances. Despite this, both he and Cletus enjoy brutal murder, regardless of whoever is in their way.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Symbiote Physiology: As a symbiote, Carnage possessed several physical and non-physical attributes.
    • Shapeshifting: Carnage could generate portions of itself out of Cletus Kasady's body to form several constructs; such as blades, claws, spikes and tentacles. While bonded to a host, Carnage's mass can be further greatly amplified, allow its biological constructs to be much larger than its basic form or its host; such the ability to form a full body over that of the host.
    • Advanced Strength: Carnage was much stronger than normal humans. It could lift objects that weigh up to 80 tons. When Carnage was in its fully emerged form, its strength was also proven to be superior to Venom's.
    • Advanced Durability: Carnage was far more durable than humans. It was able to withstand Venom's powerful blows and was completely unfazed by the attacks.
    • Advanced Reflexes: Carnage's reflexes were much faster than humans. It could dodge or counter any attack; such as gunfire, even at point-blank range.
    • Advanced Stamina: Carnage possessed far more stamina than humans; allowing it to remain physically active for long periods of time.
    • Accelerated Healing Factor: Carnage's metabolism allowed it to heal much faster, more extensively, and efficiently than humans.
    • Telepathy: While bonded to Cletus, Carnage could telepathically communicate with his host.
    • Wall-Crawling: Carnage's base form was amorphous and fluid, giving it adhesive properties that allowed it to stick to walls and ceilings.
    • Razor-Sharp Teeth: Carnage possessed razor-sharp teeth, that were capable of biting through most materials; such as flesh, wood, stone and metal.
    • Razor-Sharp Claws: Carnage possessed five retractable razor-sharp claws on each of his hands and feet, that were capable of cutting through most materials; such as flesh, wood, stone and metal.

Weaknesses[]

  • Sonic Vibrations: Carnage was vulnerable to extremely loud noise and even that of intense sonic vibrations severely injures Carnage, so much so that elongated exposure could "un-bond" the symbiote from the host.
  • Intense Heat: Carnage was vulnerable to intense levels of heat and flames.
  • Lack of a Host: Carnage and its kind can only survive outside of a host in an oxygen-rich environment for relatively short periods of time. While in its base form without a host, Carnage was far more vulnerable to harm, allowing Venom, in a host, to devour it when before Carnage was too powerful for Venom to defeat while they both had hosts.
