"Planning is not a major at this university. Octavius is a friend of mine. Better do your research, Parker. Get it done, or I'm failing you."
―Curt Connors[src]

Dr. Curtis "Curt" Connors is a science teacher and teacher of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.

Biography[]

Spider-Man[]

"I was late for work and Dr. Connors fired me."
Peter Parker[src]

Peter Parker told his best friend, Harry Osborn, that Connors was his lab supervisor who fired him because he was late.

Spider-Man 2[]

Connors is Peter's professor of quantum mechanics at Columbia University. He lost his right arm in war, but he keeps teaching and researching despite that. Connors considers Parker a brilliant, but lazy student, as he tells his friend, Otto Octavius.

Spider-Man 3[]

"It has the characteristics of a symbiote, which needs to bond to a host to survive. And sometimes these things in nature, when they bind... it can be hard to unbind."
―Curt Connors[src]

Connors keeps teaching in Peter's class, with Gwen Stacy also attending the class. When Peter brings him a strange substance to analyze, Connors discovers that it is a unique organism, a symbiote which links to an host having a great influence on the latter's body and possibly mind.

Appearances/Actors[]

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the first version of Spider-Man 2 script, the villains were Dr. Octopus, the Lizard and Black Cat.
  • In the cancelled sequel of Spider-Man 3, that was named Spider-Man 4, Curtis would be transformed in the Lizard, according with Sam Raimi's declarations. Originally Dr Connors was meant to mutate into the Lizard and become the main villain for Spider-Man 3, there is a lizard skeleton in Dr. Connors' laboratory that foreshadows this metamorphosis. Another hint is the fact that his right arm is missing; in the comics he tried to restore it using reptile DNA, which led to his transformation.
  • Joe Alaskey and Nathan Carlson both voiced an alternate version of Connors in the video games Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, respectively. These games are not considered canon to Earth-96283.
    • In the Spider-Man 3 game, Connors actually becomes the Lizard.

Trivia[]

  • In Spider-Man 3 when Peter brings him a sample of the Venom Symbiote from his costume to analyze, Connors states, "i am a physicist, not a biologist". This directly contradicts the origins of Connors' lizard-related research from the comics.
  • Connors never became the Lizard in Earth-96283, although it was rumored that he was one of the villains in the canceled Spider-Man 4, meaning that he finally would have transformed into his alter-ego.
