- Johnny joins his dad, Barton Blaze, as a daredevil at the carnival.

- Barton Blaze is diagnosed with cancer.
- Roxanne Simpson's dad sends her to live with her mother.
- Johnny and Roxanne plan to leave together on Johnny's bike but he discovers his father has cancer and makes a deal with Mephistopheles.
- Mephistopheles cures Barton's cancer but then causes him to die in a stunt bike accident.
- Johnny leaves without Roxanne.
