Earth-89521 is a branch of the Multiverse in which the Avengers are infected by a Quantum Virus and the surviving heroes search for a cure.

- 2018
- Hank Pym found his long lost wife Janet van Dyne in the Ouantum Realm, but Janet had been zombified by a Quantum Virus. She infected him and together, they returned and spread the virus around the world. The Avengers tried to stop them, but were overwhelmed and zombified as well. The Zombie Avengers retained their powers and skills. Doctor Strange and Wong also became infected, but are still able use magic. (What If...? 1.05)
- Bruce Banner landed in the Sanctum Sanctorum after the battle on the Statesman and attempted to warn others about the coming of Thanos, but he found the neighborhood abandoned. He unsuccessfully attempted to transform into the Hulk again when Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian arrived in search of the Time Stone. Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and Wong attacked and infected Thanos' henchmen. Banner was overjoyed at the sight of his friend, but he soon discovered to his horror that all five of them were zombies. - Peter Parker, Hope van Dyne, and the Cloak of Levitation arrived to save Bruce from the zombies and Hope fought the five zombies using her ant army. They took Bruce to their hideout. There, he met the other survivors of the zombie outbreak: Bucky Barnes, Okoye, Sharon Carter, Kurt Goreshter, and Happy Hogan. The heroes received a beacon from a camp on progress towards a potential zombie cure, but the message's location was garbled. Sharon deduced the message was from Camp Lehigh, which was located in New Jersey. (What If...? 1.05)
- The heroes went to Grand Central Terminal, Peter, Bruce, Hope, and Kurt head to jumpstart a train, while Bucky, Okoye, Sharon, and Happy stood on guard. Clint Barton infected Happy, who is killed by Sharon using his repulsor. Bucky and Okoye battled Sam Wilson and killed him as well. The rest were able to get the train running before the zombies can close in. However, Captain America boarded the train and infected Sharon, forcing Bucky to battle Steve. Bucky cut Steve in half with his shield, which he took for himself. Hope exploded Sharon's body, but discovered that she had been wounded in the battle. As the infection starts to infect Hope, Peter attempted to lift the group's spirits, but Kurt informed everyone that the train had come to a dead stop right outside the former S.H.I.E.L.D. base, where they were met with a zombie hoard. - At the camp, the heroes met Vision, whose Mind Stone could reverse the virus, exemplified by Scott Lang's cured head kept alive in a jar. However, they also discovered T'Challa, whose leg had been dismembered by Vision, and also discovered that Vision was feeding survivors to an infected Wanda Maximoff, who was immune to the Mind Stone. Wanda broke free and killed Bucky, Okoye, and Kurt. Vision sacrificed himself, allowing Bruce to give Peter the Mind Stone. Bruce transformed into the Hulk and battled Maximoff, allowing Peter, Scott, T'Challa, and the Cloak to escape in a Quadjet. (What If...? 1.05)
- The remaining four heroes hoped to broadcast the Mind Stone's energy across the world. Peter, Scott, T'Challa and the Cloak head to Wakanda, unaware of its besieged by zombies and a zombified Thanos wielding a nearly complete Infinity Gauntlet. (What If...? 1.05)
