Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto, is a level-4 mutant who can generate and manipulate magnetic fields.

Erik is the best friend of Charles Xavier, the father of Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff and Lorna Dane, and the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

Unlike Charles who dreams of peaceful co-existence between normal humans and mutants, Erik believes that the only way he can protect his fellow mutants from persecution is by conquering the earth.

Magneto allies himself with Apocalypse, believing that Apocalypse will use the Axis of Time to recreate reality into one in which mutants rule and his wife, Magda, is alive. However, Magneto turns on Apocalypse after discovering the latter plans to recreate reality in his own image.

X-Men: The Phalanx Covenant[]

Disheartened by the loss of his sanctuary, he does not care about even the impending assimilation of mankind by the Phalanx, until he receives news from the Beast, Forge, Mr. Sinister and Amelia Voght that his son, Quicksilver, has been kidnapped by the Phalanx. He teams up with them to defeat the Phalanx and save everyone they had captured or assimilated.

Powers[]

  • Mutant Physiology: Magneto is an extremely powerful mutant who can manipulate metal and magnetic fields.
    • Magnetogenesis: Magneto can generate, create and project bright blue, red or yellow magnetic fields from both of his hands or his entire body.
    • Magnetokinesis: Magneto can manipulate magnetic fields.
      • Power Augmentation: Magneto can temporarily amplify the psychic powers of other mutants, due to the fact that their brain waves are comprised of electromagnetic energy.
    • Ferrokinesis: Magneto can manipulate all forms of metal, even non ferrous ones, by using his powers to make any metal magnetic.
    • Flyrogenesis: Magneto can generate, create and project force fields around himself.
    • Superhuman Immunity: Magneto is completely immune to any mutant or superhuman with similar electrical-based powers due to electricity and magnetism are related.
      • Flight: Magneto is able to fly by projecting magnetic fields around himself.

  • Master Leader: As the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Erik is proven to be a very capable leader.

  • Non-Metallic Objects: If Magneto is in an area with no metal, he is almost completely helpless. However, he is still highly athletic and capable of physically fighting others.
