Evanora Harkness was the leader of a coven of witches in 1693 and the mother of Agatha Harkness.

In 1693 in Salem, Massachusetts, Evanora Harkness lead her coven against her own daughter Agatha who was learning magic far beyond a witch her age should. Evanora sentenced Agatha to death, the coven blasting Agatha with magic only for the witch to absorb it and drain the coven of their lives. Evanora joined in but shared the same fate as the rest of the coven. Agatha approached her mother's dead body and took the brooch she was wearing for herself.

Wanda Maximoff used her magic on Agatha Harkness to see her greatest fear. Wanda's magic took them to Salem moments after Agatha drained the witches of their powers and lifeforce. Agatha took control of the illusion and turned the witches, including Evanora, on Wanda. Wanda burst free and the illusion ended.
