Moon Knight is an Disney+ series that is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows Steven Grant, a mild mannered man with dissociative identity disorder who shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector who is the conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. It was released on March 30, 2022 with Jeremy Slater serving as showrunner and Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directing.

The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has Dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

  • Based on the Marvel Comics series created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. The character is often described as Marvel Comics' version of Batman, with some of the talents either disagreeing by emphasizing the character's difference while others portray him as a more extreme version of DC Comics' character.
  • The story of Moon Knight is about an American Agent who gets superpowers upon meeting the Ancient Egyptian God Khonsu, which is a real god in ancient Egyptian mythology. It's worth mentioning that the show will be directed by Egyptian Director Mohamed Diab and also stars the Egyptian actress May Calamawy.
  • Khonsu is the ancient Egyptian god of the Moon. His name means "traveller" and his cult was located in Memphis, Hibis and Edfu. Khonsu is also mentioned in the Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, he was part of the ancient Egyptian mythology until Christianity entered Egypt in the 1st century and spread rapidly throughout the country by the 4th century, resulting in the establishment of the Coptic Church in the 5th century and the end of the ancient Egyptian religion. It is still believed in rural Egypt that ancient Egyptian spirits still roam the land, which gave birth to the idea of the "Curse of the pharaohs". the idea of the reincarnation of ancient Egyptian gods was also explored in American Gods (2017) where the other gods of ancient Egypt such as Horus, Thoth and Anubis are portrayed.
  • In 2006, Marvel Studios and No Equal Entertainment announced their intentions to release a live-action Moon Knight TV series. In 2008, Writer Jon Cooksey intended to develop the Moon Knight television series.
  • Daniel Radcliffe was rumored for the role of Moon Knight, but he debunked those rumors.
  • Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ross Marquand, Pedro Pascal, CM Punk, Max Theriot, Daveed Diggs and Nick Kroll were all being considered for the role of Moon Knight.
  • Rami Malek was one of the names online fans cast to play Marc Spector before Oscar Issac was announced.
  • In August 2019, it was reported that Shia LaBeouf was being considered for the role of Moon Knight.
  • It's rumored that some scenes will be shot secretly in ancient sites in Egypt, but it was never confirmed.
  • This is the Third time for Oscar Isaac to be in a show or film related to Ancient Egypt. In 2016, he played the role of the Egyptian Mutant En Sabah Nur in X-Men: Apocalypse, and in 2009 he played the role of Orestes in the biographical film Agora about the Greeco-Egyptian Philosopher Hypatia set in Alexandria, Roman Egypt.
