Camp Lehigh was a military base used by the Strategic Scientific Reserve during World War II in New Jersey. After the war, it became one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s bases. At some point a bunker was added on which housed Arnim Zola's brain after his body died.

After the Blip, Camp Lehigh was used as the venue for New Jersey's first ever AvengerCon.

History[]

Captain America: The First Avenger[]

Camp Lehigh was used by the Strategic Scientific Reserve to give military training from Sergeant Michael Duffy to the candidates sent by Abraham Erskine and Chester Phillips for Project: Rebirth. Peggy Carter was brought in as an additional superior officer. Among the candidates were Steve Rogers and Gilmore Hodge.

In order to prove his point that Rogers did not belong there due to his sickly and frail appearance, Phillips threw a fake grenade among the candidates during a training exercise. Rogers used his body as a shield to protect everyone from the possible explosion, causing Phillips to acquiesce to Erskine's decision for Rogers' inclusion.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier[]

After the war, the site was used as a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. In 1972, an enormous facility comprising of over 200,000 computer databanks was constructed to house the consciousness of Dr. Arnim Zola after the scientist's death.

Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff came here and conversed with Zola, learning HYDRA's infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. Zola revealed the information as a stalling tactic while S.H.I.E.L.D. launched a missile at Camp Lehigh to kill the two, resulting them being buried alive and destroying the grounds.

Avengers: Endgame[]

After failing to get the Tesseract from the Battle of New York in 2012, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark decided to travel back to Camp Lehigh in 1970 as they knew it would be the one point in time where they could get both the Tesseract and more Pym Particles. On their way in, Stark noted a sign at the base that announced it to be the birthplace of Captain America. Stark was able to steal the Tesseract, but had an encounter with his father in the process. Rogers successfully stole more Pym Particles, but drew suspicion and had to hide in Peggy Carter's office. While in the office, Rogers found a picture of himself on her desk and observed Peggy in another room through a window, unnoticed by her.

After the Infinity Stones were used to reverse the Decimation, Rogers returned all of the Stones to their proper places in time, including the Tesseract to Camp Lehigh in 1970.
