The Daystar virus inserted in a dart
The Daystar is a genetic virus created by Nightstalkers member Sommerfield. It is programmed to attack a specific vampire DNA. When the Nightstalkers find out that Danica Talos has revived Dracula, the first vampire, Sommerfield suggests that, since Drake's DNA is pure, the basis for all vampires' DNA, injecting him with the virus can annihilate the entire race.
Despite Blade managing to stab Drake with an arrow containing the Daystar, thus killing all the vampires present in the Talos' building and Drake himself, the vampire race survived the plague, and Blade is forced to continue his hunt with more "traditional" methods.
