The Gifted is an TV series focusing on a family who discovered that their two kids are mutants and team up with the Mutant Underground while on the run from the Sentinel Services in a world where the X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants has vanished.

The Gifted, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Season 2[]

The 20th Century Fox Television/Marvel series picks up after the explosion of the Atlanta Station. The Mutant Underground search for their friends and family who left with the Inner Circle. Having tracked them outside of Washington, D.C., they must contend with new groups with extreme ideologies, both human and mutant alike, to stave off a brewing conflict.

On July 12, 2016, Variety reports that Fox has picked a pilot from both Matt Nix and Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory as executive producers. "The series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive." [1] On January 11, 2017, Deadline reports that Fox, 20th Century Fox TV, and Marvel TV have responded well to his script, and a pilot pickup is expected shortly.[2] Nix also stated that the show will have a more direct connection to the film side of the X-Men film universe, than Legion, and will feature various characters from the film series and comics as well as new ones created for the television series.[3] Donner reveled to IGN in an interview that the Sentinels will appear on the show.[4] It was announced that Fox has picked up the series and Singer will direct the pilot episode.[5][6] The series will begin filming on March 13, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.[7] Entertainment Weekly reports that Blair Redford is cast as Sam, "the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network."[8] Variety reports that Jamie Chung is cast as Clarice Fong/Blink in the series.[9] The Hollywood Reporter reports that Stephen Moyer will take on the role of Reed Strucker, an ambitious attorney trying to balance the demands of his job at the DA's office with his responsibilities to his family.[10] Deadline reports that Sean Teale is cast as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse, "a natural rebel compelled by circumstances to cooperate with others, Marcos is a passionate and strong-willed fighter who sometimes lets his emotions overrule reason"[11] and Natalie Alyn Lind as play one of the children, Lauren Strucker, who is described as smart, pretty, popular, organized and already ahead on her college applications, she is the model of a perfect kid.[12] The Hollywood Reporter reports that Amy Acker, Emma Dumont and Percy Hynes White are cast with Acker as Kate Stewart, "a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband Reed and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she's stronger than she thinks", Dumont as Lorna Dane/Polaris, "strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism" and Hynes White as Andy, "a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home."[13] Deadline reports that Coby Bell will play Jace Turner, "a weathered man who quietly wrestles with the moral ambiguities of a job that regularly requires cold-blooded, calculating efficiency on a day-to-day basis."[14] On March 10, 2017, Donner tweeted a photo of the table reading and announced the series titled called Gifted[15][16]

  • This is the sixth "X-Men" TV series, but only the second one to be in live-action.
  • The series is influenced by Peter David's X-Men comic "X-Factor", where the X-Men formed an agency to investigate mutant-related incidents.
  • Stephen Moyer who plays Reed in this X-Men television series is married to Anna Paquin who played Rogue in X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
  • Joseph Morgan was rumor to appear in the series when he was photo with the cast in a table reading but he later revealed that he did it as a favor for Bryan Singer.
  • Each episode in Season 1 has a capital X in its title and Season 2 has a capital M in its title.
  • Jamie Chung auditioned for the role of Psylocke which went to Mei Melançon in X-Men: The Last Stand and Olivia Munn in X-Men: Apocalypse.
  • A main character in this series, John Proudstar/Thunderbird died shortly after his first appearance in "Giant-Size X-Men" #1 in 1975. His legacy continued with his younger brother X-Men James Proudstar/Warpath whom John more strongly resembles on the show.
  • Polaris (Lorna Dane), Magneto's daughter, makes her live-action debut in this feature. She is the third of Magneto's children to appear in the X-Men films universe, after her half-brother Quicksilver (Peter Maximoff) in X-Men: Days of Future Past and her half-sister in Apocalypse. Though Quicksilver was also featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside his twin sister, Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it's unlikely we'll see their half-sister Polaris in the MCU because the film rights to that character belong to 20th Century Fox.
  • In the comics Andreas and Andrea Von Strucker are the children of HYDRA Leader Baron Von Strucker who made an appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
  • The character of Eclipse is an original character created for the show, he shares a codename with an incarnation of Sunspot in the Age of X timeline. Much like Eclipse, Sunspot has solar-based powers.
  • The opening sequence displays a background resembling the bands often seen in gel electrophoresis, a technique often used in various types of genetic testing.
  • Jamie Chung (Clarice Fong / Blink) provides the voice of GoGo Tomago in Big Hero 6 and Big Hero 6: The Series. Both The Gifted and Big Hero 6 are based on Marvel Comics properties.
  • Elena Satine's third portrayal of a comic book character after starring as DC's Mera on Smallville and Marvel's Lorelei on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. She was also considered for the role of Mary Jane Watson in the infamous musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark".
  • Natalie Alyn Lind, Jamie Chung, Michelle Veintimilla and Raymond J. Barry guest starred in Gotham, a series created by rival Graphics Novel firm DC comics.
  • The show deals with the themes of bigotry.
  • Coby Bell, Garret Dillahunt and Sharon Gless have appeared in Burn Notice, another show created by Matt Nix.
  • Elena Satine and Garret Dillahunt shared the same birthday: November 24.
  • The casting information for Thunderbird was initially presented as a character named "Sam".
