  • Lauren Revard is credited as Miss Minutes' on-set reader.
  • Sarah Irwin is credited as Variant Double.
  • Loki crash landing in a desert is an homage to Iron Man's escape from the Ten Rings Base in Iron Man.
  • After being captured by the Time Variance Authority, Loki is forced to witness his recent past and future in the Time Theater. The film reel depicting Loki's life is titled LOKI LAUFEYSON - EARTH-616; a nod to the main Marvel Comic Universe, Earth-616.
  • Tom Hiddleston recommended adding Odin telling his sons he loves them from Thor: Ragnarok (2017) to the Time Theatre.
  • The TVA sets were purposefully designed to look like a stereotypical government office space from the 1960s and 1970s, right down to the usage of typewriters, old-style film reels, rotary phones etc. from that era.
  • At one point while trying to escape, Loki threatens an office worker by saying, "I'll gut you like a fish, Casey." This is a reference to Scream (1996) in which a girl named Casey receives the same threat.
  • The Josta soda Agent Mobius drinks in Time Theater 5 is one of the earliest energy drinks. Sold by PepsiCo from 1995 to 1999, it was discontinued with no clear explanation why.
  • In the Time Court, Loki passes a mural with a painting of a group of people. The man in the front looks a whole lot like a young Stan Lee.
  • Kate Herron took care to showcase the Time Theater video of Loki's life not as a simple montage, but as a play with actions and consequences.
  • In the evidence cart pushed by Casey is a T206 Honus Wagner baseball card. While Wagner was a record-setting baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates in his own right, this card is also famous. Fewer than 200 were printed from 1909 to 1911 by the American Tobacco Company before Wagner insisted they stop making his card. Since then, this rare collectible has earned as much as $3 million at auction, and is regarded now as the third most valuable baseball card in existence.
  • Reference to Nexus previously mentioned in WandaVision (2021) the MCU'S first tv series and several references to the Multiverse and Madness in the animated TVA video as a tease to Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022).
  • Loki calls the TVA a nightmare, which Mobius calls another department (which he is willing to burn down). This refers to Nightmare, the ruler of dreams in the Marvel Comics and an enemy of Doctor Strange.
  • One of the structures in the TVA has "T-282" written on it. This refers to "The Mighty Thor #282", which featured Immortus, an incarnation of the time-travelling villain Kang the Conqueror.
  • The DB Cooper scene, though it appeared as a flashback, was shot at full ratio since it was an original scene not seen before.
  • The conspiracy theory of Loki being the criminal D. B. Cooper as a way to pay homage to a viral fan theory that Don Draper from Mad Men (2007) was destined to become Cooper.

  • The title of this episode "Glorious Purpose" was Loki's catchphrase during the Avengers movies. We also hear him repeat this phrase along with some of his other various movie dialogue throughout the episode, fittingly as this version of Loki had just come out of the end of The Avengers (2012).
  • As the series depicts, it turns out Loki was the infamous D.B. Cooper. Cooper was the alias of an airline hijacker who demanded $200,000 in ransom from the U.S. government (having passed a note to a stewardess that he had a bomb in a suitcase) and then parachuted out of the back of the plane while still in mid-air. Just like Loki in the series, Cooper was said to have worn dark sunglasses, a well-tailored suit and was never caught. One difference in how the series depicts the event is that it actually occurred in the pouring rain.
  • After the real life DB Cooper jumped out of the plane and disappeared, Money with matching serial numbers of the bills he was given as ransom were found years later on the ground. This ties in to the money left falling to the ground when Loki gets on the Bifrost as DB Cooper.
  • Loki's Variant Number is L1130.
  • Director Kate Herron revealed that Miss Minutes was initially going to pop out of the presentation that Loki watches in the first episode and interact with him. This ended up being repurposed for the show's second episode instead, as Herron felt that the sequence was "too crazy" for the series' premiere.
  • Concept art shows that Rocket Raccoon was planned to make a cameo appearance as a variant while Loki is being transferred through the TVA during the first episode.
