Genomex is a biotech company that serves as a front for a genetic research company; that conducted illegal human experimentation with the goal of curing ill children; but it resulted in the accidental creation of mutants.
Genomex then made it their goal to control and utilise the superhuman powers of the mutants for their own benefit.
