After the original Groot's sacrifice, the four remaining Guardians entered the Milano, Rocket was holding a pot with a stick popped out of it. Rocket looked down to discover Groot had begun regenerating, as the stick now had a face and arms.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2[]

During the Guardians of the Galaxy's battle with the Abilisks, Groot danced around and didn't participate. After Taserface betrayed Yondu, he and his crew became fond of Groot who helped Yondu and Rocket to escape by retrieving the Yaka Arrow for them, although Groot hilariously had trouble finding the controller for it despite being given detailed directions multiple times.

Groot went on to play a pivotal role in the final battle with Ego, being the only one small enough to crawl through a tunnel to Ego's brain. Groot planted a bomb created by Rocket on Ego's brain, killing him and destroying Ego's Planet. As the planet began to collapse, Groot welcomed Yondu to the Guardians of the Galaxy before Rocket flew himself and Groot to safety.

Groot later attended Yondu's funeral and listened to music with Peter Quill on Peter's new Zune. Sometime later, Baby Groot matured into a rebellious teenager, and Groot often clashed with Peter over his messy habits.

Character traits[]

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as a child, Groot enjoys dancing and listening to music while the Guardians of the Galaxy were battling against an Abilisk, completely disregarding how serious the situation was. However, he is also aggressive towards his enemies such as the Orloni.

Because he was a child he didn't understand very much as proven when Yondu Udonta asked him to get his Yaka Arrow, in order to escape from Taserface and the Ravagers. Even when Yondu had tried his best to explain to Groot what the arrow controller looked like, Groot brought the wrong thing several times.

In Avengers: Infinity War, as a teenager, Groot is brave, headstrong and loyal towards his allies, and friends, but he can also sometimes be rude and disrespectful.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as an adult, Groot is far more enthusiastic, gentle, kind, intelligent, mature, responsible, respectful and well-mannered. This doesn't stop him fighting for what he believes is right for him and his family.
