HYDRA (Earth-82111)

"HYDRA. Hitler's very own Supernatural Sciences Division."

HYDRA was mostly a branch of the Nazi-Germany regime, under the command of the Red Skull. It was an SS sub-division that created advanced weaponry for the army.

Following World War II, HYDRA was destroyed by Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes who formed a two-man army and hunted down and destroyed every HYDRA base on the planet. In 1953, the last HYDRA base was destroyed in Argentina, but Steve was presumed to have been killed in the mission.

After Steve Rogers was revealed to be still alive, Nick Fury explained to Peggy Carter that Steve and Bucky Barnes had formed a two-man army after World War II that had destroyed every HYDRA base on the planet and HYDRA with it. Steve was presumed to have been killed in their last mission in Argentina in 1953, but Steve was instead captured and brainwashed by the Red Room.

Beliefs[]

HYDRA was a branch of the Nazi Third Reich, founded by Johann Schmidt, but eventually left the organization under Schmidt's direction for a new world order. Whatever Nazi beliefs that were discarded from carried on from this division remains a mystery, though the HYDRA organization does believe itself superior to others. One of their recurring mottos is, "Cut off one head and two more shall takes its place," a tribute to the mythological creature on which it gains its name. This proves itself true time and again when many times their enemies have believed they have defeated HYDRA only to discover they have already arranged a contingency plan.

Unlike its Sacred Timeline counterpart, this version of HYDRA appears to have truly been destroyed rather than infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. with the Red Room instead taking its place as a threat.
