The Heart-Shaped Herb was a plant native to Wakanda that was traditionally consumed by whoever is the current king of Wakanda (who carries the mantle of Black Panther) in order to obtain superhuman physical attributes. As of Black Panther, all of the heart-shaped herbs were destroyed under the orders of N'Jadaka (after he had temporarily dethroned his paternal cousin, T'Challa) partly because he wanted to prevent anyone from using these powers against him and mainly because he did not want his people relied solely on the Black Panther to protect their nation.

The heart-shaped herb grants superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, mobility, durability, endurance, senses and an accelerated healing factor to those who consume it. There is a preparation able to negate the powers of the herbs, used to allow fair combat trials for the position of both Black Panther and king of Wakanda.
