Peter wore the Iron Spider armor when he went to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge in an attempt to meet with the MIT Assistant Vice Chancellor, as she was heading to the airport. When a universe-displaced Otto Octavius showed up, Peter fought against him using the armor. During the fight, Octavius used his tentacles to remove a chunk piece of the armor, and transferred the nanites from the piece he removed onto his tentacles. He then attempted to kill Peter by stabbing his exposed chest area, prompting Peter to reallocate the nanites from his mask to his chest to protect himself.
However, in doing so, he was now unmasked, leaving Octavius confused as he did not recognize him as the Peter Parker of his universe. The integration of the nanites onto Octavius' tentacles allowed the armor to pair the tentacles as a new device, causing its neural interface to override the tentacles' A.I. and grant Peter control of the tentacles. Peter then brought himself, Octavius and the Chancellor up to the bridge. As he showed off what he did to Octavius, another universe-displaced visitor appeared; the Green Goblin, and Parker suited back up.
Stephen Strange then simultaneously transported Parker and Octavius from the bridge and into the New York Sanctum Sanctorum, just before the Goblin could kill Parker and Octavius. Later on, in the film, when Octavius was given a new inhibitor chip, he transplanted the Iron Spider armor nanites onto Parker's red and black "upgraded" suit, converting it into the red, black, and gold Integrated suit.
Peter ultimately abandoned what was left of the armor in the ruins of Happy Hogan's condominium. The Integrated suit itself would eventually also be retired by Peter once he was erased from all of history and the public's collective consciousness, due to Peter choosing to create a new Spider-Man suit inspired by both the Spider-Man suit worn by the Peter Parker of Earth-96283 and the Spider-Man suit worn by the Peter Parker of Earth-120703.
Overview[]
Designs[]
In Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, Tony Stark designed this Iron Spider armor that looks just like the original suit that he had made for Peter Parker; the black and yellow lines make the pattern on the red fabric, and the spider emblem looks bigger.
Capabilities[]
- Suit Materialization: Similar to the Mark L armor; Tony Stark created the Iron Spider armor from nanites; allowing it to be stored in a small launch pod that could be deployed from the New Avengers Facility, as well as assemble itself around Peter Parker within minutes. The mask of the armor can also be dismissed at will, retracting down into the neckline of the armor.
- Advanced Durability: The armor was able to withstand multiple attacks from the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as a powerful slam from Thanos.
- Armored Web-Shooters: The armor came equipped with large, bracer-like Web-Shooters worn on the wrist and part of the forearm.
- Spider-Legs/"Waldoes": The armor was capable of manifesting four spider-legs, controlled through the suit's neural interface, from the armor's rear spider symbol, granting Spider-Man greater maneuverability and control while navigating various terrain. These spider-legs were able to withstand Thanos' grip without becoming damaged and were able to combat the pull of the vacuum caused by a hull breach. Spider-Man deployed them to stop himself and Doctor Strange from being sucked out of Ebony Maw's Q-Ship, and later used them to control his descent after catching Mantis in mid-air during the Battle of Titan.
- Parachute: Like the Spider-Man suit; the armor contains a parachute in the back spider symbol.
