Katherine "Kitty" Pryde, also known as Shadowcat, is a mutant who can phase through solid matter.

Kitty is the girlfriend of Lance Alvers, a student of Bayville High School and a member of the X-Men.

Kitty was sleeping in bed, when she heard Scott moaning, due to him being touched by a possessed Rogue. She phased out of her room to avoid Rogue and wake up Scott, but eventually ran into Rogue and got touched. She later woke up and, along with the other X-Men, frantically get ready for school.

At Scott and Jean's graduation, Kitty phased through chairs when Rogue started manipulating them after absorbing Magneto's powers. When the X-Men went to find Rogue, Kitty phased down through the ground into a cave underneath the Sphinx.

When the X-Men split up, Kitty was left with Colossus and Nightcrawler to observe the cave. Kitty, along with the other X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants, was knocked out by Apocalypse.

"Ascension"

Kitty helped in stopping Apocalypse by holding off Magneto, one of the Horseman, who was being controlled by Apocalypse, but she was knocked out by a Sentinel that was under Magneto's control.

Following Apocalypse's defeat, Kitty is present at the X-Mansion along with the other members of the X-Men and their allies, when Charles informs her of future events yet to come that, he saw inside the mind of Apocalypse, well he was being controlled by the latter.

Due to the fact that the rivalry between the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men have ended for good, as well as fact that Lance changed his ways for good, Kitty and Lance have gotten back together.

Powers

• Mutant Physiology: Shadowcat is a mutant who possesses intangibility.
  • Intangibility: Shadowcat can phase through solid objects or other individuals. Whenever Shadowcat passes through electrical devices or equipment, they instantly short-circuit or explode.
    • Picnokinesis: When Shadowcat is intangible, she becomes completely weightless, allowing Shadowcat to rise and lower herself through solid surfaces.

Weaknesses

• Physical Contact: Shadowcat can only make other individuals intangible, as long as she maintains physical contact with them.

• X-Woman uniform: Kitty wears a protective suit when she is out on the field in battle.

Trivia

• In the first season of X-Men: Evolution, Kitty has a valley girl accent. This was dropped in subsequent seasons.
• In the comics, Kitty has had romantic relationships Colossus and Iceman, but never with Lance Alvers. This relationship was added specifically for X-Men: Evolution.
