Lance Alvers, also known as Avalanche, is a mutant who can generate and manipulate earthquakes or shock waves.
Avalanche is a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants and a former member of the X-Men.

Avalanche fought alongside the X-Men and Acolytes to battle Apocalypse.
Following Apocalypse's defeat, Lance is present at the X-Mansion along with the other members of the Brotherhood of Mutants, the X-Men and their allies, when Charles informs him of future events yet to come that, he saw inside the mind of Apocalypse, well he was being controlled by the latter.
Due to the fact that the rivalry between the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men have ended for good, as well as fact that Lance changed his ways for good, Lance and Kitty have gotten back together.

- In the comics, Avalanche's real name is "Dominikos Ioannis Petrakis".
- Unlike in the comics, Lance has a romantic relationship with Kitty Pryde, an antagonistic relationship/rivalry with Scott Summers and spent a short stint as a member of the X-Men.
