"Welcome to the Lighthouse, the world's last bastion against the encroaching darkness. If you're here, you understand the gravity of the situation. The world as we know it has come to an end."
Rick Stoner[src]

The Lighthouse is a massive bunker built in case of an apocalyptic-level event, constructed and equipped by S.H.I.E.L.D. under the command of Rick Stoner, and located under a lighthouse in Lake Ontario, New York. It was abandoned from 1972 until late 2017, when it became S.H.I.E.L.D.'s primary base of operations.

History[]

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

"Rewind"[]

With the help of Lance Hunter and the Chronicom Enoch, Leopold Fitz found the Lighthouse as a hiding spot. Leo hid weapons and gadgets for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to find in the future Lighthouse and left to embark upon a plan to join the team in 2091.

"All the Comforts of Home"[]

After arriving in the present from the future, Phil Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. team arrived in the Lighthouse, having been in the Lighthouse in the future. A video message from Rick Stoner played welcoming the team to the Lighthouse and explaining Project Reclamation. Coulson guessed that the Lighthouse was abandoned since the 1972 Hydrogen Wave Crisis was averted, noting that there was nothing about the Lighthouse in Nick Fury's Toolbox. The team decided to set up in the Lighthouse as their new base, discovering that it was storing three Monoliths. While the rest of the team investigated a Kree Beacon, Daisy Johnson decided to stay at the Lighthouse in an effort to avoid the future where she was apparently responsible for destroying the Earth until the discovery that Deke Shaw was in jail in River's End caused her to leave.

The team later returned with a severely injured Elena Rodriguez and the beacon which proved to be a HYDRA trap. The Chronicom Noah sacrificed himself to stop the booby-trapped beacon from destroying the Lighthouse and killing everyone.

"Option Two"[]

"You may be noticing that the Lighthouse is going into lockdown mode. This is not a drill. The Lighthouse is keeping us safe. All exits, including the hangar, have been sealed to protect us from any outside intrusion. Which is good, 'cause there is currently a sizeable alien spaceship overhead. Oh, and due to a technical malfunction, the Lighthouse thinks we're under nuclear attack, so we may be trapped inside for 15 years... ish."
Phil Coulson[src]

The Lighthouse came under siege from the Remorath and was accidentally put into a fifteen year lockdown by Phil Coulson. After Glenn Talbot absorbed the Gravitonium, he killed all of the intruders and departed with Coulson on a platform made out of a piece of the floor, ending the lockdown.

"The End"[]

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team prepared the Lighthouse to house the people of River's End just in case they weren't able to stop the Destruction of Earth by Glenn Talbot.
