"What If... Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?"

In 1943, Peggy Carter chose to remain in the lab rather than watch from the observation room as Steve Rogers had the Super Soldier Serum administered. As such, she was present during the attempted infiltration, and Heinz Kruger detonated a bomb. In the attack, Rogers was shot and, after Peggy shot Kruger dead, Howard Stark ordered a subject be placed in the module or the project would be lost. Carter volunteered herself for the serum and got in. Against General Flynn’s orders, Stark administered the serum to Carter while Rogers watched on. Carter emerged from the pod much taller and stronger.

Though Stark declared the experiment a perfect success, Flynn admonished the project as a complete failure, since only one person was enhanced and was a woman, and wasn't even a U.S. military soldier. Carter told him that he had a super soldier, but Flynn told her that women don't fight on the front lines. Afterward, Carter was hitting a heavy bag with Rogers who was in rehab, watching. Though Carter wished she could fight, Rogers reminded her that she could get stuck on USO tours. They talked about dancing.

A group of soldiers marched outside the building, and Steve told her about his friend Bucky. Carter apologized for taking his place, but Rogers told her that now she could be the one to end the war. Stark and Carter volunteered to help obtain the Tesseract. Flynn objects, figuring the war will be over before HYDRA learned how to activate the Tesseract. That night at a bar, Stark and Carter discussed the situation, where he give her a costume and the shield.

HYDRA was intercepted by Carter. She was able to easily take them out and was surprised by her own abilities. Carter recovered the Tesseract and presented it to Flynn, afterward going by the name "Captain Carter". Carter broke into a prison to free the 107th. Her efforts were helped by Rogers, who arrived in a mech armor powered by the Tesseract. With the success of the mission, Captain Carter and Rogers teamed up, winning many battles together for the allied forces.

Carter and Rogers had dinner together and talked about each other's heroism. They were interrupted by Stark as he informed them of their next mission. Carter planned the train infiltration with Bucky and the 107th tour. Rogers landed on the train and the team followed. Bucky almost fell, but Carter caught him by the left arm. Rogers checked the front of the train, but it was loaded with dynamite and blew up. Steve fell into the crevice along with the train. Flynn was concerned about the loss of the HYDRA Stomper, but Carter went to interrogate Arnim Zola. She learned Red Skull's plan and helped Flynn to launch a counterattack.

Carter led the assault on Castle de Krake with Bucky, Stark and the Howling Commandos. Inside, Red Skull used the Tesseract to open a portal beyond space. The team discovered Rogers imprisoned in the HYDRA Stomper, missing the Tesseract. Red Skull was immediately killed by the monster. Captain Carter was forced to sacrifice herself by pushing the Champion of HYDRA back through the portal. The portal closed and Rogers was left with the tesseract.

In 2012 Nick Fury and Clint Barton opened the portal and brought through Captain Carter.
