Maria Rambeau

Maria Rambeau was a U.S. Air Force pilot nicknamed "Photon". Maria was a single mother to Monica Rambeau and the best friend of Carol Danvers.

Maria was the founder and director S.W.O.R.D. She died two years after the Decimation, due to cancer.

Biography[]

Maria went on to found the Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division (S.W.O.R.D.). She fell ill with cancer which she received treatment for. The cancer came back and, two years after the Decimation, in which Monica was one of the casualties, she passed away.

DeWanda Wise was originally cast as Maria but dropped out due to a scheduling conflict with her recently renewed television series She's Gotta Have It.
