Dr. Martine Bancroft is a doctor at Horizon Labs and colleague of Michael Morbius.
After Michael was framed by Milo for his crimes, she aided Morbius in his goal to take down his former best friend, but she was later kidnapped and mortally wounded by Milo, in order to lure Michael into a trap.
Michael unknowingly gave Martine a drop of his vampiric blood, just moments before he fed on her, after Martine had succumbed to her injuries.
Unbeknownst to Michael, his vampiric blood had revived Martine, turning her into a living vampire and she gained superhuman bat-like attributes.
