Kang the Conqueror is a time-traveling, multiversal adversary trapped in the Quantum Realm who is an alternate-timeline variant of He Who Remains.
Biography[]
Loki[]
"For All Time. Always."[]
With He Who Remains' death, the Sacred Timeline began to branch out, unleashing his Variants.
"Glorious Purpose"[]
- "I got those reports on the variants of He Who Remains."
"Do any of them know that we exist yet?"
"Nope. I guess one of 'em caused a little bit of a ruckus on 616 adjacent realm, but they handled it. So, we're all good for now."
"That's all we can ask for." - ―Mobius and Hunter B-15[src]
He Who Remains warned a time slipping Loki that his variants were already out there and insisted that the only way to prevent a Multiversal War that would destroy everything was to stop Sylvie from killing He Who Remains and unleashing the Sacred Timeline. While Loki insisted that the TVA would find and stop He Who Remains' variants, He Who Remains stated that there were too many and Loki would lose.
Later, Mobius gave Hunter B-15 a report on the variants of He Who Remains, none of whom knew about the TVA yet. Mobius revealed that while Kang had caused a bit of a ruckus in an adjacant realm, the situation had been handled, so they were all good for now.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania[]
Deemed too dangerous by the Council of Kangs, Kang was banished to the Quantum Realm to prevent a new Multiversal War from breaking out. Kang was ambushed by his Variants, put in his Time Sphere and exiled to the Quantum Realm. Due to his Multiversal Engine Core being sabotaged, Kang was stuck. He was attacked by Quantum Wolves, but saved by Janet van Dyne, who had been stuck in the Quantum Realm for years up to that point. Kang introduced himself to Janet as a scientist, exploring the Quantum Realm until his ship crashed off-course. Van Dyne, longing for home and her daughter, Hope, asked Kang if the Time Sphere could take them out of the Quantum Realm. Kang told her that it could take them anywhere.
For the next few years, Kang and Van Dyne worked tirelessly to repair the Multiversal Engine Core, but nothing seemed to work. Van Dyne told stories about her life and her daughter Hope, who she called 'Jellybean'. Van Dyne remarked that the last time she saw Hope, she lied to her that she would come back. Kang promised Van Dyne that with the Time Sphere, he could give her back all the time she had lost. Kang stated that time was like a 'cage' that kept them trapped, but turns out to be much smaller than it seemed once you escaped.
After years, Kang and Van Dyne succeeded in repairing the Multiversal Engine Core. As Van Dyne placed back the Core in the Time Sphere, it relayed Kang's memories of the Multiversal War, much to her horror. Kang was slightly confused by her sudden mood change, stating that they could leave. After Van Dyne asked who 'Kang' was, he stated that it was who he 'needed to be' and that he was going to 'win'. He then activated the Time Sphere, regaining his armor.
