Erik Lehnsherr was imprisoned in the Nazi Concentration Camp Auschwitz in 1944 as a child.
X-Men: First Class
After witnessing his powers, Sebastian Shaw brought Erik into his office and tried to get Erik to lift a coin with his powers. However, Erik was unable to do it. Shaw then brought in Erik’s mother and threatened to shoot her if he did not lift the coin. Erik, despite considerable effort, was unable to do it and Shaw shot and killed Erik's mother. I’m a rage Erik destroyed the room and killed two soldiers in the process impressing Shaw who would proceed to experiment on Erik until the end of the war.
X-Men: Apocalypse
After the death of his wife and child, En Sabah Nur would bring Erik back to the Auschwitz Concentration Camp where he proceeded to enhance Erik’s abilities who in a state of emotional rage destroyed the camp.
