Quentin Beck was a former employee of Stark Industries who was fired for becoming enraged over his life's work named B.A.R.F. by Tony Stark.
After Stark's death, Beck worked with a team of other disgruntled former Stark Industries employees and invented the Elementals and the superhero persona Mysterio to take his revenge.

- Mysterio's actor, Jake Gyllenhaal, was originally supposed to replace Tobey Maguire in his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man 2 as Tobey injured his back. However, Tobey recovered and returned to his role as Spider-Man.
