To respond to this, Nixon launched the Sentinel Program to show the world that the United States could protect itself, unknowingly starting a string of events that would lead to the near-destruction of the world.

- Many fans believe that Nixon may be a mutant. A reason for this is that when Trask's mutant identifier went off inside the bunker, it was pointed at Nixon and not at Mystique, in the opposite direction of her actually.
