After Peter Parker trapped Doctor Strange in the Mirror Dimension, Ned Leeds managed to figure out how to use Strange's Sling Ring to open his own portals, although, despite opening portals to two alternate versions of Peter, he has some trouble closing them again. Ned grew to be somewhat proficient at using the Sling Ring, at one point summoning a wave of water through a portal to attack the Lizard, who chased Ned and MJ after Ned couldn't close the portal between the Statue of Liberty and Midtown School of Science and Technology. After getting free, Strange retrieved his Sling Ring, but appeared to be impressed by Ned's ability to use it.

"I found this little trinket on his lovely fingers."
Cassandra Nova[src]

After being convinced to help Deadpool and Wolverine, Cassandra Nova revealed that she had taken a Sling Ring off of a Stephen Strange variant that she had killed some time before. Cassandra was able to open a portal from the Void at the End of Time to Earth-10005 for the two men, later following them through another portal opened by the ring.

Capabilities[]

  • Portal Generation: Sling Rings are used by sorcerers to open portals anywhere on earth or throughout the multiverse. A sling ring is the only way to travel back from the Mirror Dimension. A modified Sling Ring with the Reality Stone and Time Stone can be used to transport out of the Void at the End of Time.
