- "After the fall of Asgard, the Tesseract took on a second life among Kahhori's ancestors. Breaking on impact, the Cube released unmitigated Space Stone energy, gifting its power to the lake. Warriors, adventurers and other noble tribespeople disappeared into the waters, never to return. Greed and grief ignited a terrible battle amongst the surrounding nations. In the end, peace was made, and the lake's blood-soaked shores were deemed cursed, deterring all from returning to it. Well, all but one."
- ―The Watcher[src]
The Tesseract is a crystalline cube-shaped containment vessel for the Space Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones that predate the universe and possesses unlimited energy.
Following the destruction of Asgard in Ragnarök, the Tesseract crashed in a lake in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy in pre-colonial America, breaking on impact, opening a portal to the dimension known as the Sky World and granting great power to those who chose to live there.

Capabilities[]
The Tesseract is one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe. When hit with the Twilight Sword by Surtur, it generated a massive explosion of blue energy that destroyed both Surtur and Asgard. Odin had held up the Tesseract when Surtur struck, possibly trying to use its power as a futile defense against the demon as Ragnarök consumed Asgard. Despite the powerful hit that it took, the Tesseract survived and made its way to Earth where it broke after crashing into the Forbidden Lake. The unmitigated Space Stone energy that the Tesseract released when it broke gifted the Tesseract's power to the Forbidden Lake, opened a portal to another dimension known as the Sky World. The Tesseract's power seeped through the portal and into everything in the Sky World itself such as the water, land and plants. The energy also granted the Sky People great powers, changing them through their mere presence in the dimension and them eating things that had the Tesseract's power in it. Amongst these powers are immortality, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, atmokinesis, super speed, super agility, and the ability to fire energy blasts.
Despite having broken, the Tesseract appeared to be relatively intact at the bottom of the lake when Kahhori fell through its portal, although visibly cracked, proving its durability.
