- When Micro says Welcome Back Frank, this is a nod to The Punisher story line titled "Welcome Back Frank".
- Frank goes by the identity of "Pete Castiglione", Castiglione is actually Frank's full last name.
- The title of the episode (3 AM) is also the title of an Eminem song. The song is about Eminem is going on a killing spree after being possessed by the devil.
- Frank is reading "The Crack-Up" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, a compilation of articles that the iconic author wrote between 1931 and 1937. The title essay relates to the haplessness of life and the author's own crack or loss of hope.
- The Gnucci's that are referenced throughout the episode are a callback to the Gnucci Crime Family who had a big part in the Welcome Back Frank storyline.
- To make sledgehammers more effective, construction workers will cut the handle at elbows length making it easier to swing. Frank's sledge had its handle shot in half, thus making it easier to maneuver, making it a deadly weapon.
