  • SPOILER ALET!!!!!! DONT READ TILL YOU SEE THE MOVIE

Think about it yes Days of Future Past is one of the best superhero movies ever and I wouldn't change a thing but say this happened for real. There are much easier ways to destroy the Sentinels. Say it's the scene where the Sentinels were coming to kill the X-Men. Storm could have created tornados or hurricanes more powerful that anything ever recorded or even send a powerful lightning bolt to de-power them all. or Blink could have opened a portal that sends them to the sun easy fix or even send portals that cut the Sentinels in half! Or Have Kitty phase into the Sentinels and rip the power source out of them. Even if they were somehow forced to use time travel then send Wolverine back to when Trask was born or was a kid, disguise himself as a drunk idiot, and kill him there! A little cruel but it'll prevent the Sentinels from even being thought of this saving billions of lives in the future! Does anybody have anything that might explain why this wouldn't happen besides it isn't a good story plot?

    • Some of your arguments are really really smart. The film could've been resolved in 5 minutes. It isn't a solid story plot, but let's just choose to ignore this and keep a good image of the film because it's my favorite X-Men film up to date hands down, and I can tell yours too from the first sentence. As I said, great thinking anyway.

    • Hum, first off...Sentinels can mimic mutant powers...that's why they are so powerful. They endured body blows from Colossus, one of the most powerful mutants in terms of physical strength, extremely high and low temperature blasts from Sunspot and Iceman and...no fucks were given. If Kitty tried to phase, the Sentinels would alter their bodies to counter her powers. With Blink, the thing about using portals to slice them in half is a good idea, except, as we've seen Sentinels are mass produced and move in large groups, so like we saw, she'd eventually get overwhelmed anyway. Also opening a portal from point A to point B if both are 30 feet apart is a completely different feat from doing that from Earth to outer space. Lastly, how the hell would Wolverine be able to find a child Trask in time? The only way he was able to find him, was because of Mystique killing him at the peace summit, a historical, high-profile event and with Xavier and Erik's help, because it was the only time period they knew where they could find Trask. And lastly Kitty's ability to send someone back in time is limited as she said, so maybe that was the limit to her power at the moment. So no, the Sentinels, at least the future ones could not have been defeated more easily due to their superior strength, numbers and ability to adapt and replicate mutant powers...they were designed to track and hunt mutants, so they better do their job right.

    • Maybe if they found out where Trask lived? I mean... The film has some plotholes. It is a great movie in my opinion and hands down the best X-Men up to date, but some stuff feels kinda out of place

    • Explain how? The past was in 1973...if Trask is in his mid 40s, maybe early 50s, it would mean they would have to go to the 1920s...at that time, there was no computer network or anything to find people like today and no one from the group knew anything from Trask from before the 70s...plus Xavier and Eric weren't even born. I think the word you're looking for is cliches...not plot holes...the desperate last stand, the final twist just before the good guys are about to lose...also this is a reset movie...so it nullifies everything previous to it (except First Class, which is even older)...it's a clean slate from now on.

    • Cliche too, but I feel as if some things could've been solved easier... I don't know hahahaha

    • In better condition's maybe...but since this was a race against time, from a rag-tag bunch of mutants, it's kinda of a touch-and-go process...again cliche, but the plot was more solid than i expected, with a few shcoks and twists and the characters (and their respective actors) were on their A-Game...can't ask much more from an action flick, even if it is X-Men.

    • I agree on the acting completely. And Blink was WAY WAY better than I expected

    • True, and i was surprised in a positive way with the depiction of the Sentinels, which had their share of gruesome scenes when killing the mutants. Also Magneto playing the villain in the past was cool...although i call bullshit on him managing to lift an entire stadium just like that.

    • I like your possible solutions, but like Darksusanoo said the sentinels adapt. I also thought Storm could of done more. She did destroy two or three of the transports before they deployed so that was big. To me Storm isn't the one to get out of control. Most mutants don't know how far they can stretch their powers to. Storm probably didn't know if she could pull of those things. Obviously there are arguements on Iceman's death since he really can't die. I LOVED Blink! I can't remember if her portals have a limit to how far she can transport. Blink better be back for AOA!

I'm now thinking on AOA movie. Who will be the horseman? Why wasn't Angel in the new future? He is one of the first horseman.

    • Agreed on the Storm and Iceman thing. Blink was brilliant and hope to see her in AOA too
Many mutants weren't shown in the new future, they couldn't have that many cameos hahaha. They just showed the main characters in 10005 (Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Iceman, Beast, Kitty and Colossus). And I agree, Angel/Archangel NEEDS to be a Horseman, yet I would like to see (if they come up with original ones) who they are and how they make it work

    • I think the movie could of been resolved more easily.

    • I can see that everyone loves Blink almost as much as I do! Remember the actor is signed on for 5 films, though that can include team up films, solo films, and cameos so who knows what will become of her. When she was first seen in the comics she was insecure about her powers and people would die in the teleportation ring but then in Age of Apocalypse she mastered her powers. That would be interesting to see her go from a little girl to the badass in Days of Future Past.

    • It would be interesting to see her become more offensive than support/defensive in her teleportation. Maybe in AOA she gets "battle hardened" and throws her teleportation javelins at people like in the comics or throws them to split people.

I was surprised at the gruesome deaths Fox showed when the future sentinels killed the X-Men so who knows maybe they will keep on screen killing in future movies.

    • I actually wasn't expecting Days of Future Past to be that good. There was only one scene I wish they did better which is when Magneto has the Sentinels guarding him and all the mutants were watching, I was waiting and wanting to see not only Quicksilver but Toad, Ink, and Havok come in and fight them off. That is a scene I would have LOVED to see! If that scene was in the it would be my favorite Marvel film to date.

    • Look, this is the same reason why they never made Alien and Pretator vs. Chuck Norris. Who woult want to see a 14 second movie?

I would watch that, only because it would be awesome to see Chuck Norris killing them.

    • Wolvie could have travelled to 1940, ask someone when he was born, where he went to school etc etc (Trask was famous then, right?) Then have someone wake him, THEN go back to the 1920s, and finally kill him!

    • No need for time travel.

In a previous film it was established that Professor X could have used Cerebro to kill every non-mutant on Earth.

Probably could have used it to command the present day Trask or whoever is in charge to stop the sentinels too.

With time travel, they could have just gone back about 10 years.  This would have put them in a relatively easy situation where they would have plenty of time to work out the change the past with Trask thing with no Sentinels at the door.

Really best not to think about it too much. I thought Blink was cool too.

Perhaps the X-Men didn't want to kill a baby.

    • Well seeing as I can look up anyone who was ever famous from any modern time period and find out their hometown, school, etc, I'm pretty sure they could find Trask. And not wanting to kill a baby? It's better than billions of lives in the future

I don't see Prof. X doing it but I think Logan is totally capable of doing it.

    • There would be an easier way to mutants such as sunspot and iceman working together
