The Westchester Incident was an Incident in an alternate timeline in or around the year 2028 in which Charles Xavier suffering from Alzheimer's disease unleashed a psionic seizure. The event is said to have injured 600 people and killed several members of the X-Men; although the specific details of the incident are unknown.

Prelude[]

In the year of 2028, in his advanced age, Charles Xavier developed a severe case of Alzheimer's disease which badly affected his telepathy, which caused him to have seizures that released powerful and lethal waves of psionic energy. The first of which was so powerful, it ended up obliterating Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and devastating Westchester, New York.

Result[]

  • Death of the majority of the X-Men and further injuries of 600 people.
  • X-Men disband.
  • Logan and Charles escape to the Mexican border and enlist the help of Caliban.
  • Charles' mind is declared a Weapon of Mass Destruction and is thus wanted for detainment.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Director James Mangold originally planned on showing the Westchester Incident in a flashback, with actors James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Elliot Page and Kelsey Grammer all reprising their roles to show the X-Men's accidental deaths at Xavier's hands, but thought it would be better for the event to be more vague and mysterious, with the audience not knowing which members died and which survived, leaving it more impactful and tragic.
