Trivia[]
- The little paper zombie at the beginning of Spider-Man's video is a nod to Mutant Enemy Productions, the company of Joss Whedon, director of The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
- When Spider-Man wears Doctor Strange's cape, it is a fusion of the most famous Marvel Comics co-creations of artist/writer Steve Ditko.
- The first mention of Uncle Ben in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he's yet to appear in the live-action series of the MCU.
- In the original Marvel Zombies comic series, the undead heroes and villains alike retained their ability to talk, think, and show remorse for their actions. However, when they have the hunger for human flesh, they become more primal. In the MCU's version, the undead heroes hardly have the ability to speak normally, or think logically aside from wanting to feed on human flesh. They resemble more so like actual zombies depicted in Hollywood cinema. However, they do retain their abilities (Scarlet Witch, Dr. Strange, Wong, Ebony Maw), while others retain their knowledge about how to fight and use their suits/weapons ( Falcon, Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, The Wasp, Hank Pym).
- The Watcher states that the main events of Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) take place two weeks before the start of Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
- Danai Gurira reprises her role as Okoye from Black Panther (2018). She also stars in the popular zombie-apocalypse series, The Walking Dead (2012), as Michonne.
- This episode is the first appearance of "Marvel Zombies" in the MCU.
- First appearance of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in an MCU series. This is also the second Spider-Man appearance in an animated project since Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
- Black Panther is held prisoner by Vision as a "food source" for zombie Wanda Maximoff. The same thing happens to him in the "Marvel Zombies" comics, only instead Hank Pym kidnaps him as food for himself.
- Scott Lang's head in a jar is a nod to the first Marvel Zombies comic book, where Janet Van Dyne's zombie head is put into a jar and "restored" as a functioning normal human by the Acolytes.
- The ending suggests that zombie Thanos still needs the mind stone to snap his fingers just like in Infinity War, hinting that this episode is not over and ends on a cliffhanger. However, this is not likely as the Watcher declares it as "the end of the universe."
- Hope van Dyne kills Zombie Sharon Carter by expanding from Wasp-size to normal size inside her body. This is possibly a reference to a fan theory that was popular after the release of Avengers: Infinity War and before the release of Avengers: Endgame that Scott Lang would kill Thanos by expanding inside him.
- The surviving Avengers decide to board a train to Camp Lehigh during the zombie apocalypse. This bears a strong similarity with the Korean zombie apocalyptic film Train to Busan (2016).
- During the climax, T'Challa suggests the Avengers board a Quadjet to escape the zombie Wanda Maximoff. This is a subtle reference to Captain Marvel (2019), where Quadjets play an important role in the events of the film.
