- Xialing originally had a red streak in her hair that was removed per Zhang's request after she discovered the appearance's association with the "rebellious Asian girl" stereotype.
- For the role, Zhang trained in MMA, tai chi and rope dart.
- Jessica Henwick was offered for the role of Xialing but turned it down to do The Matrix Resurrections.
Trivia[]
- Xialing is based on the daughter of Zheng Zu and the older half-sister of Shang-Chi - Zheng Bao Yu who is a supervillain - and Sister Dagger who's the younger half-sister of Shang-Chi. In recent stories, Zheng Shi-Hua, also known as Sister Hammer, seems to replace Zheng Bao Yu, she also takes over the organization after her father's death.
- Tsai Chin played Fu Manchu's daughter Lin Tang in five films starring Christopher Lee in the 1960s, and in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, she plays Waipo, Katy's grandmother.
